Response Marketing

What is the difference between Response Marketing and Inbound Marketing?

Inbound Marketing focuses on attracting visitors through content, with the goal of capturing leads and nurturing them toward the sale. Response Marketing shares the premise of attracting with content, but expands the scope: beyond driving organic traffic from Google, the goal is for your brand to be cited by generative AIs whenever someone asks a relevant question.

Another important difference is that traditional Inbound leans heavily on forms, e-books and email automation. Response Marketing prioritizes building real authority: quality backlinks, presence in communities, advanced schema markup and content that AIs can actually reference. The lead may come, but the main asset is being present in the answer.

In practice, many companies already doing Inbound can evolve into Response Marketing by adding GEO, strategic link building and AI citation monitoring to what they already do. It is not about replacing, it is about expanding.
