SEO by platform · WooCommerce
WooCommerce SEO that gets your site out of plugin purgatory.
WooCommerce gives total template freedom because it runs on WordPress, and that same freedom is exactly what tends to become the problem: plugin stacked on plugin, cheap hosting and an update that quietly breaks schema. The consulting organizes that stack before any content plan.
We work in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Headquarters in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

01Overview
WooCommerce SEO agency
WooCommerce is a plugin on top of WordPress, not a closed platform, and that changes the kind of diagnosis a store needs. The problem is rarely WooCommerce's own structure: it is hosting, plugin combinations and SEO settings left at factory default.
In practice, that is what we did in the SP Labor technical migration, a WooCommerce lab-equipment store: an audit closed in August 2026 took errors from 753 to 326 pages, warnings from 2,803 to 1,020, the sitemap from 383 to 20 files, compressed 6,433 images from 4.0 GB to 1.4 GB, and homepage PageSpeed reached 97 on mobile and 99 on desktop, with the operation migrated to Google Cloud.
That is the same technical logic applied to any WooCommerce store: hosting sized to traffic volume, an SEO plugin configured case by case, and structured data reviewed on every update, inside the Response Marketing Method.
- 753 → 326
- pages with technical errors at SP Labor
- 97 / 99
- SP Labor's mobile / desktop PageSpeed
- 24h
- of tracking in the App and on WhatsApp
02Platform
What is different about technical SEO on WooCommerce
Cheap shared hosting is the most common villain in WooCommerce stores with a speed problem. Unlike SaaS platforms such as Shopify and VTEX, here the infrastructure is the client's own choice, and it is the first thing we audit when PageSpeed comes back low.
SEO plugins like Yoast or RankMath generate a working product JSON-LD, but rarely a complete one: it usually lacks aggregate rating, attribute variants, and sometimes `Brand`. A poorly tested plugin update can change that markup with no warning, which calls for periodic review, not just initial setup.
Category slugs and filter parameters (`?attribute_filter=`) create URL combinations that compete for crawl budget with the real product pages. Canonical and robots rules fix this, but need revisiting every time a new category enters the catalog.
03Scope
What is included in the work
Hosting and performance audit
Server, cache and image compression diagnosis, with a fix plan prioritized by PageSpeed impact.
SEO plugin configuration
Review of Yoast, RankMath or equivalent, with rules specific to the catalog, not the plugin's factory default.
Product structured data
Completing Product, Offer, AggregateRating and Brand, reviewed on every theme or plugin update.
Lean sitemap
Splitting the sitemap by content type (product, category, blog), reducing file count and prioritizing what matters.
04Technical edge
Structured data: what plugins leave half done
The SEO plugin handles the basics of product schema, but rarely covers GTIN, attribute variants or aggregate rating consolidated from multiple sources. That is adjusted manually, and it is what separates a WooCommerce store that shows up with a rich result from one that does not.
Image compression falls in this workstream too: a large catalog with heavy, unoptimized images is the most common reason for low PageSpeed, as shown by the compressed volume dropping from 4.0 GB to 1.4 GB in the SP Labor case.
- Product, Offer, AggregateRating, Brand and GTIN when available
- Batch image compression with no visible quality loss
- Schema review on every plugin or theme update
- Sitemap split by content type

05GEO
Shopping AIs and the WooCommerce catalog
A store with complete product schema has a better chance of being cited when a shopper asks ChatGPT or Gemini about price and availability before deciding to buy. This sits in the same consulting plan, alongside GEO: SEO for AI, with no separate contract.

06Comparison
WooCommerce against SaaS platforms
The central difference is who controls the infrastructure. On WooCommerce, that is the client's responsibility, and it is where the biggest possible technical gain lives.
| WooCommerce | Shopify | VTEX | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hosting control | Full, client's choice | Managed by Shopify | Managed by VTEX |
| Biggest technical risk | Outdated plugin or weak hosting | Third-party app JS | Faceted navigation duplicating URLs |
| Structured data | Depends on the installed SEO plugin | Basic native, needs completion | Requires middleware over the feed |
| Template customization | Full, via WordPress | Limited to the theme's liquid | Limited to the storefront framework |
07Measurement
What you track in the App
Crawl errors and warnings, PageSpeed per template, rankings by product keyword and AI citations land in the live report. Fixing hosting and image compression usually moves PageSpeed within weeks, as in the SP Labor case.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why did my WooCommerce store get slow after it grew?
In most cases it is the hosting, not WooCommerce itself. Cheap shared servers cannot sustain a large catalog with growing traffic, and uncompressed images make it worse.
Which SEO plugin do you recommend for WooCommerce?
There is no single right answer. What matters is the configuration applied to your specific catalog, not the factory default of Yoast, RankMath or an equivalent.
Can a plugin update break the store's SEO?
It can, and it happens more often than people think: a plugin or theme update can change product schema with no warning. That is why review is periodic, not just at initial setup.
What happened in the SP Labor audit?
Closed on August 21, 2026, it took errors from 753 to 326 pages, warnings from 2,803 to 1,020, and the sitemap from 383 to 20 files, with 6,433 images compressed from 4.0 GB to 1.4 GB and homepage PageSpeed at 97 (mobile) and 99 (desktop).
Do I need to migrate hosting to improve SEO?
It depends on the diagnosis. When hosting really is the bottleneck, we migrate to infrastructure like Google Cloud, as in the SP Labor case.
How long until I see PageSpeed results?
Image compression and cache adjustments usually move PageSpeed within weeks. Organic ranking gains on a competitive term are quarterly work.
Do you work with a small WooCommerce store with few products?
Yes. The initial diagnosis follows the same protocol regardless of size, and the plan that comes out of it is sized to the real catalog.
